Hello All,
I hope you are receiving lots of cards and enjoying the project. I have received dozens of snail mail and many e-mail cards, already! Thanks so much for your commitment to the project.
One of our participants expressed a concern I hear every year. She said, "...remind participants to include their number or address on their mail. We have spent ALOT of time looking through the list for addresses to find the proper mailing address. I would rather be able to quickly locate it in today's "cram full curriculum" it is hard to find time to look over and over the list for the class address."
Help each other out. Whether you send snail mail or electronic cards, please include your participant number in your signature.
Thanks!
Leni

Postcard Creating Sites
Hello All,
The Kodak Postcard site seems to be gone. Here are some other sites I found through a web search. I offer them without endorsement - I tried them with mixed results. They all appear to be free.
Perhaps this will be of help to those looking for a site that will allow them to create their own postcard or for directions for doing so on your own. If anyone has further suggestions, please add your comment to this post!

Helping one of last year's participants...
Dear Participants,
Registration remains closed but I am still receiving requests to join the project. I have removed the registration form and am truly unable to add new participants.
However, my heart goes out to this past participant. Doug was in the project last year and believed he was still registered for this year. He prepared his students and was beginning work on his cards when he realized his error. By then it was too late to register.
So.... if you wish to add Doug to your lists, manually, he has promised to return your cards.
Doug's contact information:
Doug Smith
dmsmith@libertyisd.net
Liberty High School
2615 Jefferson DR.
Liberty, TX 77575
Grades 9-12
120 students
Thanks for helping Doug and his students.
Best,
Leni

Change: zip code alert!
Hello again,
Please be aware that U.S. zip codes that begin with "0" are truncated by our project database. The zero is omitted from the display (example: 02040 would be displayed as 2040). If you see any U.S. zip code of four digits, please add a "0" at the beginning of the digits.
I will label all updates to contact information as "Change" posts.
Best,
Leni

Welcome!
To returning and new participants to Postcard Geography - WELCOME!
We have a wonderfully diverse group this year - seven countries and forty-four U.S. states are represented. Teachers, this project provides a unique opportunity to forge new friendships and to reach well beyond your classroom walls. Make the most of it!
We will use the Postcard Geography Blog to correspond this year, rather than a mailing list. Please be sure to check here, regularly, for updates of all kinds. Feel free to send private e-mail to me, or to other participants, as well.
There will be inevitable changes in the mailing lists. Please review your own contact information and let me know right away if there are errors to correct.
Make it a habit to check this blog frequently, especially in the first month of the project. I will post all changes in e-mail and snail mail addresses here. I will also use the blog to provide further information and updates about the project. After the project is launched, we will use the blog for sharing tips, tricks, techniques and ideas.
I recommend that you download your mailing list no earlier than Wed., Sept 20, and suggest that you begin mailing Sept. 25. This will save you the work of downloading multiple participant lists or editing, as those inevitable, early corrections are made.
Thank you for joining Postcard Geography. I look forward to a terrific year - here's to fun and good learning...
Warm Regards,
Leni
