Request for suggestions for implementation

Hello All,

As our start date (Sept. 24) draws closer, I have received a number of questions about how to best implement the project. While I answer each and every question, I am no longer in the classroom. Those of you in the classroom, especially returning participants, can provide excellent examples of your successful implementation strategies. Won't you please leave your comments to help new participants?

Here are some recent questions:

I was wondering if you could tell me which style of "postcard" most
participants found the most enjoyable to receive: hard copy or email.

What sorts of information did participants include that made it worthwhile
to kids? There seems to be a lot of participants and I'd like to do the
regular mail, but that might be too costly. And email seems so boring... I
was wondering if you could suggest anything to make my first time a
success.

Thanks for adding your helpful comments.

Best,

Leni

I have not done this before but I am using this project with an 8th grade computer class. I plan on having them create digital postcards using different software to illustrate our community. It may be a powerpoint, a brochure, a webpage. So, I plan on doing most of it electronically, but not just writing and pictures from us. I'm looking forward to getting involved in this!

I am also doing this with an 8th grade class. I am planning on doing this in a word document with photos. I thought I would stay away from powerpoint because I'm not sure all of the schools would be able to open the powerpoint files due to large size perhaps. What are your thoughts. I was planning on using Smilebox. Has anyone else used this? Do you have any suggestions for what worked or that it just didn't work?

Thank you!
